Hong Kong Launches First Halloween Month With Citywide Cosplay Parties Across Five Major Districts

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has launched the inaugural Hong Kong Halloween Month, transforming the city’s October calendar with cosplay street parties, themed attractions, entertainment and complimentary festive transport experiences. Under the theme Make the Streets Your Runway, the initiative brings together tourism districts, shopping destinations, major theme parks and transport operators to create a citywide Halloween celebration. Events are scheduled across Central, Kai Tak, Lan Kwai Fong, Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui, with activities running across three consecutive Saturdays from 17 October and culminating on Halloween night, 31 October 2026.
Why Has Hong Kong Launched Halloween Month?
Hong Kong has long attracted attention for its Halloween celebrations, which combine international popular culture with the city’s distinctive entertainment, dining and nightlife scenes. This year, the HKTB is expanding its promotional efforts beyond individual attractions and single-day events by coordinating activities across multiple districts.

The initiative aims to encourage residents and visitors to dress up, explore different parts of the city and participate in themed experiences. By bringing together shopping centres, entertainment venues, tourism partners and transport operators, the HKTB intends to spread Halloween-related visitor activity across a wider area.
HKTB Executive Director Anthony Lau said the initiative builds on the response to the board’s International Lantern Spectacular, which combined local traditions with international cultural influences.

He explained that Hong Kong Halloween Month would expand celebrations previously concentrated on a single day or a limited number of venues into a citywide programme lasting several weeks.
Lau said the board wanted residents and visitors to take part in the street party under the theme Make the Streets Your Runway, creating a Halloween experience found only in Hong Kong.

He also thanked industry partners and supporting organisations for collaborating on the programme. The wider ambition is to position Hong Kong as a leading Halloween destination in Asia while generating visitor activity and business opportunities across different districts and sectors.
Which Hong Kong Districts Will Host the Halloween Street Parties?
The HKTB has partnered with Hongkong Land, Kai Tak Sports Park, the Lan Kwai Fong Association, Langham Place and Sino Group to stage Halloween events across five locations.
The programme combines cosplay, electronic music, street performances, themed installations, interactive entertainment and local cultural references. Visitors can encounter anime and film characters alongside elements of Hong Kong culture, including its iconic red minibuses and Cantopop music.
The five principal event locations are Central, Kai Tak Sports Park, Lan Kwai Fong, Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui East.
1. Central: Halloween in Central
Hongkong Land’s Halloween in Central will transform Statue Square Gardens and Chater Road into a large-scale Halloween setting, combining art installations, entertainment and street activities.
Statue Square Gardens will feature illuminated Halloween installations and photography locations, including giant eyeballs, a mysterious gateway and a haunted jail. These installations are intended to create a festive atmosphere and provide visitors with distinctive locations for photographs.

Chater Road will host themed programmes throughout the event period, including a wellness experience day, an outdoor music party, a family carnival and a large-scale cosplay street party on Halloween night.
The programme also connects with local merchants and the HKTB’s Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival through a Central Passport reward initiative. The programme encourages visitors to explore different parts of Central while discovering local dining, arts and creative experiences.
By combining retail, food, culture and entertainment, the event seeks to encourage visitors to spend more time in the district rather than attend a single attraction.
2. Kai Tak Sports Park: Halloween Party
Kai Tak Sports Park will host a Halloween party featuring cosplay, a DJ programme built around Cantopop classics, street dance and high-energy performances.
The venue will also feature neon lighting installations, a Halloween-themed marketplace and three-dimensional photography spots created with local comic artists. Experienced cosplayers, including costume design instructors, will present original work showcasing Hong Kong’s creative scene.
Families and visitors travelling with pets will find dedicated activities, including a pet photography area. On Halloween day, the programme will expand to include trick-or-treat activities, a treasure hunt and professional body-painting experiences across Kai Tak Mall and Dining Cove.

Live entertainment, food and interactive activities will contribute to a waterfront carnival atmosphere, offering visitors alternatives to the city’s nightlife-focused celebrations.
3. Lan Kwai Fong: Only in LKF! Halloween Cosplay Party
Lan Kwai Fong will host the Only in LKF! Halloween Cosplay Party, branded as LKF Monster Mash.
The programme features three themed celebrations: Monster DJ Night, Wizard Block Party and Monsters Night. Activities include interactive cosplay, street broadcasts, themed photography installations, DJ performances and dining experiences.
Visitors will be able to interact with cosplayers, explore the district’s streets and alleyways, and participate in activities designed around Lan Kwai Fong’s established nightlife identity.
One of the highlights is the Monster Photo Hunt, which will incorporate live photo streaming. A large DJ party will bring the evening’s festivities to a close.
The event combines cosplay culture with the district’s bars, restaurants and entertainment venues, offering visitors a Halloween experience shaped by Hong Kong’s nightlife scene.

4. Mong Kok: Langham Place Halloween Street Fest
Langham Place will stage the Halloween Street Fest outside its shopping complex in Mong Kok.
The event will incorporate Hong Kong-style red minibuses into its themed entertainment, including the Mong Kok Haunted Minibus. Visitors can also expect Halloween-themed soft-serve ice cream, busking performances and a high-energy street music carnival.
The red minibus theme connects the celebrations with a recognisable element of everyday Hong Kong life. By incorporating local transport culture into a Halloween setting, the programme aims to distinguish the event from more conventional themed parties.
Mong Kok’s retail environment also provides opportunities for visitors to combine the festivities with shopping and dining.
5. Tsim Sha Tsui East: Halloween Beats
Sino Group’s Tsim Sha Tsui East programme will bring a Halloween-themed cosplay DJ party to Mody Road Garden.
The event will feature neon lighting displays, a themed market and entertainment designed to encourage visitors to participate in the celebrations.

The location adds another major district to the citywide programme, allowing visitors to combine Halloween activities with the waterfront and shopping attractions of Tsim Sha Tsui.
Together, the five event grounds provide a range of experiences, from family-friendly activities and creative installations to cosplay gatherings, music and nightlife.
What Can Visitors Expect at Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park?
Hong Kong Halloween Month also incorporates the signature seasonal events at the city’s two major theme parks: Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Ocean Park Hong Kong. Both programmes run until 1 November 2026, according to the HKTB announcement.
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort: Disney Halloween Time
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s Disney Halloween Time invites visitors to dress up and enjoy themed entertainment, character encounters, food and merchandise.
Disney Villains and Disney characters feature in the seasonal programme, alongside the new musical celebration Mickey’s Happy Halloween Adventure.
Other highlights include Uninvited! A Villains Takeover Party and the musical production Let’s Get Wicked.

The resort is also offering Halloween-themed food and beverages, limited-time merchandise and trick-or-treat experiences. These attractions provide options for families and visitors looking to combine character entertainment with the wider citywide Halloween programme.
Ocean Park Hong Kong: Halloween Fest
Ocean Park Hong Kong’s annual Halloween Fest returns with four scare experiences and a programme of Halloween entertainment.
A key attraction is a collaboration with Under the Castle, an original intellectual property created by internationally recognised artist Jackson Wang. The partnership brings an immersive, multi-sensory horror experience to the park.
Additional activities include themed dining, limited-edition merchandise and interactive entertainment.
The programme combines horror attractions with high-energy activities, offering an alternative to the family-focused experiences at Disneyland.
Together, the two parks extend the Halloween offering beyond the city’s street parties. Visitors can plan itineraries around character entertainment, horror experiences, shopping, dining and nightlife.

How Can Visitors Enjoy Free Halloween Bus and Tram Rides?
The HKTB has partnered with Citybus and Hong Kong Tramways to offer complimentary festive transport experiences on three Saturday evenings: 17, 24 and 31 October 2026.
Citybus will operate a Halloween-themed open-top sightseeing bus route connecting major festive locations on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon. Planned stops include Statue Square in Central, Langham Place in Mong Kok, Kai Tak Sports Park, Tsim Sha Tsui Centre and Lan Kwai Fong.
Visitors who arrive in creative Halloween costumes can ride for free, according to the HKTB announcement. The route is designed to provide an elevated view of the celebrations while connecting several participating districts.
Hong Kong Tramways will also convert two trams into Halloween party trams. Normally reserved for private hire, these themed trams will be opened to the public on the same three Saturday evenings.
The trams will operate between Causeway Bay and Sheung Wan, including Western Market. Visitors dressed in festive attire can ride free of charge and experience the city’s night scenery as part of the Halloween programme.
The complimentary transport experiences are intended to make it easier for visitors to move between attractions while turning the journey itself into part of the celebration. Travellers should consult the HKTB’s official event page for the latest operating details, eligibility conditions and any service updates.

The board will select creative and entertaining entries for prizes. Selected submissions may also appear on the HKTB’s promotional platforms, giving participants an opportunity to showcase their experiences to a wider international audience.
The campaign forms part of the board’s broader effort to encourage visitors to engage with the city’s Halloween celebrations and share their experiences online.
