Holland America Line is partnering with New York City’s Magnolia Bakery to introduce the bakery’s signature banana pudding aboard selected Caribbean cruises from October 2026 through April 2027, marking the first time Magnolia Bakery desserts will be available at sea. The collaboration will bring a dedicated Banana Pudding Bar to the Lido Market once during each eligible Caribbean sailing, combining a recognisable American dessert with Holland America Line’s broader focus on destination-inspired dining across the Caribbean and the Bahamas.

Magnolia Bakery Makes Its Cruise Debut in the Caribbean

The partnership represents a new culinary addition for Holland America Line’s 2026–2027 Caribbean programme and expands the cruise company’s emphasis on food experiences connected with its itineraries.

Magnolia Bakery, widely associated with its New York origins and signature desserts, will make its first move into shipboard dining through the programme. Its banana pudding will be served specifically on Caribbean itineraries rather than introduced across the entire Holland America Line fleet. The seasonal arrangement means passengers sailing in Alaska, Europe, Asia and other regions will not automatically receive the offering. For Caribbean guests, the dessert programme will run during sailings scheduled between October 2026 and April 2027.

Banana Pudding Bar Adds an Interactive Dining Experience

Rather than serving the dessert only as a conventional pre-portioned item, Holland America Line will introduce an interactive Banana Pudding Bar in its Lido Market buffet venue. The special station will operate once during each participating cruise. Passengers will be able to build and layer their own servings using the core elements of Magnolia Bakery’s banana pudding alongside additional mix-ins.

Guests will therefore need to check the ship’s daily programme or Holland America Line’s Navigator App to identify when the Banana Pudding Bar will be available during their particular voyage. The pudding is expected to form part of the Lido Market offering without an additional surcharge.

Holland America Chefs Trained in New York

Holland America Line has sought to reproduce Magnolia Bakery’s established preparation method rather than create a separate shipboard interpretation. Culinary teams from the cruise company trained with Magnolia Bakery Chief Baking Officer Bobbie Lloyd in New York City. The training focused on preparation methods, including layering, texture and the consistency required for the finished dessert.

The recipe combines fresh bananas, vanilla wafers, vanilla pudding, sweetened condensed milk and whipped cream. Maintaining those elements is significant because texture and preparation are central to the identity of the dessert. Shipboard production also requires culinary teams to recreate the product consistently within the operational environment of a cruise vessel. Magnolia Bakery’s banana pudding has previously received the No. 1 position in the sweets category of Food Network’s Top 10: Sweets, adding established recognition to the new cruise dining partnership.

Caribbean Flavours Take a Bigger Role at Sea

The collaboration fits within Holland America Line’s wider Caribbean culinary strategy rather than functioning as an isolated dessert promotion. The cruise line has been developing menus intended to reflect flavours associated with destinations visited during regional itineraries. Caribbean-focused dishes include Jamaican braised oxtail, rum barbecue chicken wings and a seafood boil served in a poolside setting.

Banana-based flavours also provide a natural connection with the tropical produce and culinary traditions associated with Caribbean destinations. The company is additionally developing its regional drinks offering through a Rum Ambassador programme featuring more than 35 Caribbean rums. Together, these initiatives position food and drink as part of the destination experience for passengers rather than limiting regional engagement to time spent ashore.

Half Moon Cay Anniversary Strengthens Bahamas Connection

The Magnolia Bakery partnership also arrives as Holland America Line prepares for an important milestone at RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, its private destination in the Bahamas. The island will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2027, placing the culinary collaboration within a wider period of investment in Holland America Line’s Caribbean product.

RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay is undergoing upgrades designed to broaden the visitor experience. Planned additions include a new all-inclusive beach club and a food pavilion, strengthening the destination’s leisure and dining infrastructure. For Caribbean passengers, the developments mean the shipboard food programme and private-island experience are becoming increasingly connected parts of the overall itinerary.

Culinary Partnerships Gain Importance in Cruise Tourism

Cruise operators have increasingly used dining to differentiate itineraries, particularly in highly competitive regions such as the Caribbean, where multiple companies visit many of the same destinations. Recognisable culinary brands can provide an additional experience aboard ship while destination-focused menus help reinforce a sense of place during the voyage.

For Holland America Line, the Magnolia Bakery partnership adds another identifiable food experience while remaining limited enough to create a specific event during each cruise. The once-per-sailing format also means passengers will need to plan around its scheduled appearance rather than expect the pudding bar throughout their voyage.

What Caribbean Cruise Guests Need to Know

Passengers booking Holland America Line Caribbean voyages between October 2026 and April 2027 can expect the Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding Bar on eligible itineraries. The experience will take place in the Lido Market once per sailing and will allow guests to customise the dessert with different layers and mix-ins. The offering is included within the buffet experience rather than positioned as a separately charged speciality dining product.

Passengers should nevertheless confirm availability and timing through the Navigator App or the daily onboard schedule. With Magnolia Bakery entering cruise travel for the first time, expanded Caribbean-inspired menus and further development at RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, Holland America Line is using the 2026–2027 Caribbean season to strengthen the connection between onboard dining, regional flavours and destination experiences across the Caribbean and the Bahamas.
