Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Pvt) Limited announced that starting today, Indigo has broadened its connectivity with Sri Lanka by initiating direct flights from Mumbai to Colombo.

Flight Schedule
The company stated that Indigo is set to operate these flights three times a week, specifically on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Expansion of Destination Network
Currently, Indigo provides services from Colombo to three Indian destinations: Chennai with two flights daily, Bengaluru with a daily flight, and Hyderabad with flights six days a week. With the introduction of the Mumbai-Colombo route, Indigo will now connect Colombo with four major Indian cities. This expansion is expected to significantly enhance the opportunities for travel, trade, and tourism between Sri Lanka and India.

Increased Flight Operations
With the addition of this new route, Indigo will now operate a total of 30 weekly flights to Colombo from these four primary cities in India.

Enhanced Connectivity Between Jaffna and Chennai
Eng. Athula Galketiya, Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Pvt) Limited, reported that after successful negotiations, Indigo is set to begin direct flights between Jaffna and Chennai starting June 1, 2024. These flights will operate daily. This new route is anticipated to bolster travel and trade in Sri Lanka’s Northern Province and strengthen the cultural and religious ties between Sri Lanka and India.

The introduction of these new flights by Indigo marks a significant step in improving air travel between India and Sri Lanka, offering more options for passengers and fostering closer connections between the two neighboring countries.
