Jamaica welcomes huge tourists with tourism boom

With the tourism sector Jamaica experiencing robust trajectory in terms of development for this year, Edmund Bartlett, the Minister of Tourism, Jamaica, has disclosed that the island as of May 10th has welcomed more than 1.5 million visitors in total, with provisional gross earnings surpassing US$1.6 billion for the time.


Bartlett made the declaration after closely following the 41st Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s Caribbean Travel Marketplace where he was honored the President’s Award because of Caribbean Excellence in Tourism industry.


The current year-to-date figures, as per Bartlett shows that the country met this target before projections.


They received 1,586,303 total visitors, between January 1st, 2023 and May 10th, 2023, in terms of cruise and stopover, taking home US$1.69 billion, putting their place at par with the records of 2019.


In their arrivals, they have witnessed stable growth and constant investment in tourism, which is a wonderful accomplishment, said Bartlett. The tourism minister emphasized that planned investments and building flexibility were the main areas of target in sustaining the strong tourism revival.


He additionally highlighted deep marketing initiations, augmented capacity of rooms and extended airlift connectivity as the important drivers that works behind the increase in tourist arrivals.


To maintain this growth on a rising trajectory, they carry on securing new air service besides new routes by important carriers like, Frontier Airlines, American Airlines, Spirit Airlines and others.
