Bringing a wealth of experience from his 15-year tenure within the Four Seasons brand, de Vries, a seasoned hotelier, blends a unique mix of urban and luxury resort management to his latest role. Recognized for his innovative spirit and commitment to delivering exceptional service, de Vries is poised to lead the 155-room hotel, situated in the heart of downtown San Francisco, towards new heights in guest experience, emphasizing the landmark property’s prominence.
Previously serving as Resort Manager at the award-winning Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina, de Vries achieved remarkable success in fostering connection, community, and the spirit of aloha. Under his guidance, the resort received its highest Guest Experience scores since its inauguration in 2016. Now, de Vries aims to channel his extensive leadership experience and passion into guiding the Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco at Embarcadero through its next chapter.

Originally hailing from Milwaukee, de Vries embarked on his illustrious Four Seasons career in 2006 as Front Services Assistant Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Boston. Over the years, he ascended through various roles, including Director of Guest Services and Assistant Director of Rooms on both the east and west coasts. Throughout his career, de Vries has gained recognition for his ingenuity and visionary approach, fostering a dynamic culture of inclusivity and community, evident in endeavors such as pop-up rooftop restaurants and support for local artists-in-residence.
Holding a bachelor’s degree in International Hospitality Management from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, de Vries, along with his husband, Jonas, is not only a connoisseur of architecture and culture but also an avid explorer of San Francisco’s vibrant art scene.
