The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) has expressed its strong support for the recently launched Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign, a national initiative aimed at positioning Malaysia as a premier global tourism destination.

The official launch, held in Kuala Lumpur, was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, accompanied by Deputy Prime Ministers Dato’ Seri Dr.

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, and Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, among other dignitaries.

Ambitious Goals for 2026
The VM2026 campaign, under the theme “Surreal Experiences,” sets bold targets to attract 35.6 million international visitors and generate RM147.1 billion in tourism revenue.

As part of the launch event, the campaign unveiled a vibrant batik-patterned logo, a theme song, and two mascots—Malayan Sun Bears named Wira and Manja.

MAH, representing Malaysia’s hospitality industry, is honored to be a strategic partner in this ambitious campaign.

The association views VM2026 as a unique opportunity for the hotel sector to boost occupancy rates, enhance international visibility, and contribute to the national tourism agenda.

Hospitality Industry Prepared to Support Tourism Growth

Datin Christina Toh, President of MAH, commended the government’s vision, emphasizing the readiness of Malaysia’s hotels to support the anticipated surge in tourist arrivals:
“The hotel industry welcomes the inspiring and ambitious goals set by the government for VM2026. With tailored packages and our unwavering commitment to excellence, hotels across the country are well-prepared to meet the needs of the influx of tourists by 2026.”

MAH also highlighted the campaign’s potential to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a leading destination, particularly with its focus on diverse attractions ranging from eco-tourism to cultural heritage and modern innovations.

Call for Strong Global Marketing Efforts

While MAH applauds the VM2026 campaign’s high-reaching targets, the association stressed the importance of robust and timely promotional activities to ensure global visibility.

“2026 is only 11 months away, which is just around the corner. It is crucial for VM2026 promotional activities to effectively reach international audiences in the months ahead,” Toh noted.

MAH reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC) and other stakeholders to amplify the campaign’s impact.

A Shared Commitment to Tourism Excellence

The VM2026 campaign is a rallying call for the entire tourism ecosystem, including the hospitality industry, to work towards achieving Malaysia’s tourism goals.

MAH expressed confidence that with effective planning, strategic partnerships, and sustained marketing efforts, Malaysia can exceed its ambitious targets and reaffirm its place as a top global travel destination.
