Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego has announced a phased renovation plan aimed at enhancing one of Southern California’s largest hotels. Highlighting its prime coastal location, the renovation will build on the property’s reputation as a key landmark in Southern California hospitality. Starting in early 2025 and continuing through Winter 2026, the project will update all 1,628 guestrooms and suites, over 320,000 square feet of meeting space, several dining venues like Sally’s and the Top of the Hyatt, and recreational areas such as the sports court and two rooftop pool decks.

This significant investment demonstrates our commitment to providing exceptional San Diego experiences for groups and leisure travelers, while raising the bar for hospitality on the West Coast.”

Accommodations

The transformation of guestrooms and suites will occur in two phases, starting with the Seaport Tower, set to be completed by Winter 2025, followed by the Harbor Tower in Summer 2026. Inspired by classic yacht design, each room will feature rich wood tones and soft blue accents, reflecting the serene waters of San Diego Bay.

Meetings & Events

The hotel’s expansive meeting and event spaces will undergo a full redesign, with a focus on the iconic Harbor and Seaport Ballrooms. These spaces will combine elegant coastal-inspired design with advanced technology, including enterprise-grade Wi-Fi and integrated audiovisual systems. Pre-function and breakout areas will feature wave-inspired custom carpets and lighting, while redesigned outdoor terraces will offer panoramic views of the bay, providing a stunning setting for events ranging from grand receptions to intimate gatherings.

Dining Venues

Sally’s, the signature waterfront dining venue, will reopen in March 2025 with a refreshed open-air concept. Led by Chef Alvaro Garcia, it will highlight Baja Med-inspired cuisine, including dishes like grilled octopus, ceviche, fish tacos, and a seafood tower, paired with mezcal and tequila cocktails and regional wines. Top of the Hyatt, located on the 40th floor, will temporarily close in late 2025 for renovations and is slated to reopen in early 2026, continuing its reputation as one of San Diego’s premier cocktail destinations. Additional updates include an expanded MARKET | ONE with improved retail options and Seaview Restaurant’s refined breakfast offerings, featuring locally and sustainably sourced ingredients.

Recreational Spaces

The hotel’s recreational amenities will be completely reimagined to deliver a premium resort experience. Two rooftop pool decks will be redesigned, offering stunning views of the harbor and city skyline. A full-service adult pool with craft cocktails and engaging activities will debut on the third floor in Winter 2025, while a reimagined family pool will open on the fourth floor in Winter 2026. Additional upgrades include modernized sports courts and a state-of-the-art fitness center, set to be completed by mid-2026.
