Italy Unleashes a Spectacular Mediterranean Cruise Triumph as MSC World Asia Reveals the Largest Venchi Chocolate Wonderland Ever Created at Sea

The largest Venchi chocolate experience at sea will be introduced aboard MSC World Asia when Mediterranean sailings are commenced in December 2026. Through the new attraction, Italian chocolate-making traditions will be combined with modern cruise travel, interactive entertainment and destination-led dining. A 300-square-metre venue will be positioned within the Galleria district on Deck, where a boutique, café, lounge and artisanal gelateria will be brought together. More than 60 guests will be accommodated, while personalised chocolate creation, live demonstrations, speciality drinks and freshly prepared treats will be offered throughout each voyage.

A New Culinary Landmark Will Be Created at Sea

A major addition to contemporary cruise dining will be delivered through the partnership between MSC Cruises and Venchi. Rather than being presented as a conventional chocolate counter, the venue will be established as a complete multisensory destination.

The attraction will be recognised as the first Venchi store to be opened aboard an MSC World Class ship. It will also become the largest Venchi location across the MSC Cruises fleet. Its scale and central position will allow it to be experienced as an important part of the journey rather than a minor onboard facility.

MSC World Asia will be placed into service on 4 December 2026. Mediterranean itineraries will be operated from several embarkation ports, including Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Naples, Genoa, Marseille, Messina and Valletta. As a result, established European destinations will be connected with a highly distinctive Italian culinary experience at sea.

Italian Chocolate Heritage Will Be Added to Mediterranean Travel

Venchi was founded in 1878, and more than a century of Italian chocolate-making heritage will be represented aboard MSC World Asia. Its chocolates and gelato will be integrated into a cruise experience shaped around food, leisure and cultural discovery.

For travellers, the Mediterranean will not simply be viewed from the ship. A taste of Italy will also be made available between port visits. The venue will therefore serve as an extension of the destinations included within the itinerary.

A day spent exploring Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia, Naples, Messina or Valletta will be followed by an onboard experience rooted in European café culture. Italian espresso, speciality beverages and handcrafted chocolates will be served within an elegant setting. Through this approach, the boundary between shipboard entertainment and destination immersion will be reduced.

A Working Chocolate Laboratory Will Be Opened to Guests

At the centre of the venue, a live chocolate-making station will be installed. Venchi chocolate experts will be observed while chocolates are prepared, decorated and finished. The production process will therefore be turned into an accessible form of culinary theatre.

A chocolate laboratory will also be provided. Inside the interactive space, custom chocolate bars and slabs will be created by guests. Premium ingredients, including Piedmont Hazelnut and Venchi chocolate caviar, will be available for the personalised creations.

Digital tools will be used to support individual designs. Consequently, a chocolate bar will not merely be purchased. It will be shaped into a personal souvenir connected with the voyage.

The activity is expected to be particularly appealing to families, couples, food-focused travellers and guests seeking experiences that can be shared across generations. A physical reminder of the cruise will be produced, while Italian culinary knowledge will be presented in a playful and approachable format.

Crunchy Waves Will Bring the Mediterranean Into Every Scoop

An exclusive gelato flavour named Crunchy Waves has been developed by Venchi and MSC Cruises to celebrate the partnership. The flavour has been designed around the colours, textures and atmosphere of the Mediterranean.

Three distinctive layers will be combined. A creamy vanilla gelato base will be topped with crunchy hazelnut biscuit and salted toffee pieces. Inspiration will be taken from the traditional Italian Bacio di Dama biscuit. A vivid blue spirulina layer will then be added to evoke the shimmering tones of the Mediterranean Sea.

A visual sand-and-sea effect will be created through the layered presentation. As a result, the flavour will be connected directly with the destinations through which MSC World Asia will travel.

Crunchy Waves will be made available at selected Venchi stores in the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Italy from 1 to 31 August 2026. It will also be introduced aboard MSC Cruises Seaside Class ships featuring Venchi gelaterias. From December, it will be served aboard MSC World Asia.

More Than Forty Hospitality Venues Will Shape the Voyage

The Venchi venue will form part of a much broader dining and entertainment programme aboard MSC World Asia. More than 40 bars, lounges, cafés and restaurants will be provided across the ship.

Many of those concepts will be developed with internationally recognised and award-winning culinary partners. Different tastes, dining styles and travel occasions will therefore be accommodated during each sailing.

However, the Venchi attraction will be differentiated through its combination of food production, retail, personalisation and entertainment. Guests will not only be served finished products. Chocolate-making techniques will be displayed, and direct participation will be encouraged.

For cruise travellers, greater value is increasingly being placed on experiences that cannot easily be recreated at home. The new venue has been designed around that expectation. It will offer a setting in which a snack, workshop, souvenir and social occasion can be combined.

The Galleria District Will Gain a Powerful New Attraction

The venue will be positioned in the Galleria district on Deck 6. This location will place it within one of the ship’s principal indoor social areas, where regular passenger movement will be generated.

Floor-to-ceiling sculptures inspired by gelato will be included in the design. Curated displays of Venchi creations will also be installed. The venue will therefore be shaped as a visual attraction as well as a place for dining and shopping.

More than 60 guests will be seated within the space. A relaxed café and lounge atmosphere will be created, enabling the venue to be used during sea days, before shore excursions or after travellers have returned from port.

Its location will also make spontaneous visits easier. A planned chocolate workshop may be attended, or a quick espresso and gelato may be enjoyed while other areas of the ship are being explored.

Mediterranean Port Visits Will Be Enriched by Onboard Flavours

This flexibility will allow voyages to be joined from Spain, France, Italy and Malta. Historic streets, celebrated architecture, coastal landscapes and regional food cultures will be explored ashore. On board, the European theme will be continued through Venchi’s Italian chocolate traditions.

For travellers departing from Barcelona, the cruise will be linked with one of Spain’s leading cultural cities. From Marseille, the landscapes and food heritage of southern France will be placed within reach. The chocolate experience will consequently be framed by destinations already associated with strong culinary identities.

Cruise Holidays Will Be Made More Experiential

Modern cruise ships are increasingly being selected for their onboard attractions as well as their itineraries. This shift will be reflected aboard MSC World Asia, where food will be transformed into an activity rather than being treated solely as a service.

A deeper travel angle will also be created. Italian ingredients and traditions will be introduced while some of the Mediterranean’s most significant ports are visited. Cultural discovery will be extended beyond shore excursions and into the ship itself.

For families, a creative activity will be provided. For couples, an indulgent café and cocktail venue will be offered. For culinary travellers, premium ingredients and Italian production methods will be highlighted.

A Sweeter Identity Will Be Given to MSC World Asia

The attraction will be supported by a 300-square-metre layout, seating for more than 60 guests and a varied programme extending from breakfast to evening. A boutique, café, lounge, gelateria and working chocolate laboratory will all be combined.

Travellers will be invited to observe specialists, create bespoke bars, enjoy Italian espresso, order croissants and crêpes, taste Gelatoshakes and sample chocolate-infused cocktails. Crunchy Waves will provide an exclusive connection with the colours and spirit of the Mediterranean.

Through this development, an onboard visit will be turned into a travel memory. MSC World Asia will not simply carry guests between destinations. A distinctive taste of Italy will be carried with them throughout the voyage.
