Ryanair announces additional winter destinations in Málaga for 2026-27 season. Airlines Ryanair are set to boost connectivity through the Spanish city of Málaga with six winter routes opening up for travel in 2026-27. This will include a return to popular domestic connections within Italy and new services to Poland and Slovakia, as well as first-time destinations in Germany. The programme will provide residents of Costa del Sol with more choices for direct flights to Europe but also open southern Spain up to wider regional exploration beyond the peak summer months.

Announced on 14 October, the schedule will cover 82 routes from late October 2026 to late March 2027. More flights on existing services will accompany the winter additions. The expansion combines new seasonal choices with a broader increase in capacity, giving travellers more opportunities to plan journeys between Málaga and several established European markets throughout the five-month winter operating period.

Six Winter Connections Expand European Choice

Trieste, Venice Marco Polo and Turin will join Ryanair’s Málaga winter schedule in Italy. Katowice will add a Polish connection, while Košice in Slovakia and Hamburg in Germany complete the six destinations.

Venice Marco Polo and Turin will each receive four weekly flights. Trieste, Katowice, Košice and Hamburg will each have two weekly services. These additions concern the airline’s winter programme. Some connections have operated during summer, so the announcement does not establish that every route is entirely new. The distinction matters for travellers checking whether a familiar summer service will remain available during the colder months of the year.

Extra Seats and Flights Strengthen the Schedule

Ryanair expects to offer more than 3.4 million seats to and from Málaga over the season. That represents over 92,000 additional seats, approximately 3% above the previous winter.

The planned seasonal capacity increase applies to the overall Málaga network. It does not refer exclusively to capacity on the six announced winter connections. Frequencies will also rise on 31 existing routes, including Rome, Cologne, Porto, Krakow and Budapest. Those increases extend the expansion beyond the newly highlighted destinations. For passengers, the programme offers both additional seasonal connections and a wider selection of departures on routes already included in the airline’s network.

Italy and Poland Lead Capacity Growth

Italy will see a particularly substantial increase in planned seat availability. Ryanair projects 48% growth in winter capacity on its Italian routes, supported by the additions of Trieste, Venice Marco Polo and Turin.

Polish routes are expected to record a 30% capacity increase. Katowice’s inclusion will contribute alongside additional frequencies on existing connections, including Krakow. These percentages describe expected seat capacity for the coming winter, rather than passenger totals already recorded. The Košice service also strengthens links with eastern Slovakia, extending the programme’s relevance across Central Europe. Together, the changes broaden the range of markets connected to Málaga during winter.

Why This Matters for Costa del Sol Travel

The schedule creates additional opportunities for travel in both directions. People living on Spain’s Costa del Sol will have more direct options for winter visits to European cities. Travellers in the connected markets will also gain additional ways to reach southern Spain.

For the destination, air access supports efforts to attract international visitors beyond the traditional summer tourism season. The expanded programme is therefore relevant to tourism businesses across Málaga province as well as individual passengers. Its practical value lies in the combination of destination choice and flight frequency, which gives travellers more scope to arrange their winter travel plans.

Based Aircraft Support Málaga Operations

Most of the winter programme will be operated using the 15 aircraft Ryanair has based at Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport. The based fleet will support the expanded network and the additional frequencies planned for existing routes.

Ryanair estimates that these aircraft represent an investment of $1.5 billion. It also estimates that its operations support more than 6,800 local jobs. Both figures are company estimates, rather than independently verified measures. They describe the airline’s existing operational footprint and should not be interpreted as announcements of fresh investment or newly created jobs resulting solely from the six additions to the winter schedule.

Passenger Growth Frames the Winter Expansion

The announcement comes against a background of passenger growth at Málaga Airport. According to figures cited by Hosteltur, the airport handled more than 11 million arriving passengers during the first nine months of 2026.

That represented a 6.7% increase compared with the same period in 2025. The figure concerns arriving passengers, rather than total traffic including departures. It also relates to the airport overall, while Ryanair’s winter announcement concerns one airline and a later operating period. The two sets of figures provide separate context: airport arrivals indicate recorded activity, while the winter schedule describes the capacity Ryanair plans to provide.

What Travellers Should Know Before Booking

Promotional fares starting at €24.99 have been introduced to mark the winter schedule announcement. The limited offer applies to eligible bookings made before Monday, 19 October 2026.

Ryanair is set to further expand its Málaga winter 2026-27 network with six European destinations, an impressive 82 routes offering over 3.4 million seats. This will provide more choice for passengers looking to holiday in the popular Costa del Sol region.

Winter 2026-27 fares for the new European connections can be found on Ryanair’s website and mobile app. Departure dates, seat availability and final pricing will of course depend on the route and time of year selected. The listed starting price therefore should not be seen as fixed for any particular journey. Passengers are advised to check any route they are considering as well as the terms and conditions of sale before booking their travel. The advertised weekly frequency provides an indication of this busy winter travel programme while the booking channels will show customers their options dependent on their preferred travel dates.
