On Wednesday, TSA Administrator David Pekoske, accompanied by TSA officials, teamed up with leaders from the U.S. Travel Association and representatives from the Seamless and Secure Travel Commission will highlight state-of-the-art security checkpoint technology at the Innovation Checkpoint, situated at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.
Formed in January following a revealing study on America’s declining global competitiveness, the commission consists of former government officials and experts from the private sector. Their mission is to develop policy recommendations aimed at modernizing the travel experience, boosting U.S. competitiveness, and fostering growth.
During the Las Vegas visit, the TSA and DHS Science & Technology Directorate seized the opportunity to present cutting-edge innovations that enhance transportation security and transform the travel journey. During the tour, commission members, traveling on a United flight, experienced the TSA PreCheck Touchless ID system and gained insights into TSA’s dedication to industry collaboration. This includes ongoing partnerships with United Airlines and Delta Air Lines to offer Touchless Identity Verification at eligible TSA PreCheck locations.
Over the next few months, the commission plans to expand its engagement with federal agencies through further field visits. These visits aim to delve deeper into best practices, identify pain points, and explore opportunities for enhancing and expanding travel experiences. The commission’s report is slated for delivery later this year.
