Singapore Airlines (SIA) is set to significantly enhance its flight offerings to various destinations during the northern summer of 2024, from March 31 to October 26, 2024.
Responding to robust air travel demand, the national carrier will exceed or match pre-pandemic levels of flight frequencies to key cities such as Tokyo, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur (KL), and more.
The airline plans to utilize larger Airbus aircraft on certain routes to increase passenger capacity. For instance, flights between Singapore and Cairns, Australia, will increase from five to four times a week, while the Singapore-Male service will transition from Boeing 737-8 narrowbody to the Airbus A350-900 medium-haul aircraft.
In China, SIA will enhance its offerings by adding a third daily service between Singapore and Beijing from May 1, 2024, reaching pre-pandemic levels. Additionally, flight frequencies between Singapore and Hong Kong will return to pre-pandemic levels with the addition of a fifth daily service from October 29, 2023, and a sixth daily service from August 1, 2024. Similar frequency adjustments will occur for flights between Singapore and Shanghai and between Singapore and Tokyo.
SIA’s European network will also witness improvements. Services between Singapore and Copenhagen, Denmark, will return to a pre-pandemic daily frequency from July 1, 2024, and direct flights between Singapore and Barcelona, Spain, will resume with a twice-weekly service from June 2, 2024.
Furthermore, the airline plans to reintroduce its flagship Airbus A380 on flights between Singapore and Frankfurt in Germany, replacing the A350-900 long-haul aircraft.
In response to escalating demand, SIA will progressively increase flight services between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur from 47 times weekly to 66 times per week. The airline intends to introduce additional flights using Boeing 737-8 aircraft.
