Stacy Cox, the CEO – Turks & Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association, spoke her mind at WTM 2023 to Travel And Tour World. Her background as a general manager and president of hotels, coupled with her studies in hospitality administration and management from Cornell University, speak volumes. Cox’s career as one of the most renowned and informed hospitality professionals in the area started at the renowned Atlantis Resort in Paradise Island, Bahamas, where she rose to the very top.

Travel And Tour World: Hello, Stacy. Can you tell us a bit about the connectivity aspects?

Stacy: You know, post-COVID, things have really changed and are surprisingly better for the Caribbean. Currently, the entirety of the experience—from food to human capital to cultural events—is what draws people to this place rather than the beaches and sunshine. Due to this, people are eager to come and visit here. The connectivity from Southwest, JetBlue Airlines, and now that British Airways is back would help the influx happen seamlessly.

Travel And Tour World: What do you think about sustainability? Should we speak out about it more now that the time has come?

Stacy: Definitely, see, we adhere to our slogan, “Beautiful by Nature.” Not only do we discard the usage of toxins and harmful elements that pose a threat to our environment, but we also mandate and promote the use of reusable goods. After conferences and signed MoUs with partners regarding the same on the island.

Travel And Tour World: So can you share anything about it?

Stacy: We advise our clients to use sun-safe sunscreen and reusable bags. A sustainable program is being built by one of the properties that are in the pipeline. Our efforts range from creating a butterfly sanctuary to utilizing reusable water in areas with limited resources. We are working hard to safeguard the natural resources and create a more beautiful and sustainable area in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
