Leading the world in growth is South Korea, with an impressive 48.82% increase in international arrivals, followed by Japan at 47.09% and Chile at 40.42%. Vietnam’s performance stands out not only for its impressive numbers but also for its position among major tourism players, which highlights the country’s growing global appeal.

Thailand, for example, saw a 26.27% rise in visitors, ranking 12th globally, while Laos followed with a 25.29% growth rate (13th). Other countries such as Malaysia (24.20%), Cambodia (22.87%), and Singapore (21.22%) showed notable, but smaller increases, placing them further down the list.

In contrast, Vietnam’s explosive growth places it ahead of these nations, cementing its position as one of the most exciting destinations in Southeast Asia. Interestingly, El Salvador has made significant strides in tourism, ranking ninth globally in terms of growth. The Central American country’s improvement is largely due to successful public safety reforms under its current administration. With a substantial reduction in crime rates, El Salvador is expected to welcome 3.2 million international visitors in 2024, marking an 80% increase in tourism since 2019.

When it comes to total international visitors, France remains the undisputed leader, attracting 102 million tourists in 2024. Spain follows closely behind with 93.7 million visitors, and the United States ranks third with 72.3 million. Other major tourist destinations rounding out the top 10 include China, Turkey, Italy, Mexico, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

In Southeast Asia, Thailand leads with 35.5 million visitors, placing it 12th globally. Malaysia ranked 17th globally with 25 million international visitors, while Vietnam followed closely with 17.4 million, securing the 24th spot in worldwide tourism rankings.
