Vietravel Airlines has successfully initiated the inaugural charter flight in a series aimed at connecting Ho Chi Minh City (SGN)/ Da Nang (DAD) with Takamatsu (TAK) and Fukushima (FKS) provinces in Japan. This flight marks a significant step in expanding the airline’s route network and linking key tourist destinations in 2024.

Japan has emerged as a promising destination for tourism and air travel. In 2023, it attracted a substantial number of Vietnamese tourists, with 573,900 visitors recorded by the Japan National Tourism Organization in Vietnam (JNTO). This marked a notable 15.9% increase from 2019, setting a new record. Vietravel Holidays (Vietravel) played a pivotal role by successfully facilitating the travel of 13,053 visitors to Japan, organizing 295 tourist groups to the country, particularly in March and April. Recognizing the potential of the Japanese tourism market early in 2024, Vietravel and Vietravel Airlines collaborated to execute a series of charter flights to Takamatsu and Fukushima provinces, leveraging the synergies within the Vietravel Corporation.

The maiden flight from Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) to Takamatsu (TAK) on March 17th, labeled VU3002, departed from Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) at 00:45 and arrived at Takamatsu Airport (TAK) at 06:00 (Vietnam time). Carrying nearly 200 passengers from a Vietravel Holidays tour group, this flight signifies the initiation of the charter flight series jointly conducted by Vietravel Airlines and Vietravel. This collaborative effort aims to harness the Vietravel Corporation’s existing ecosystem to catalyze aviation and tourism endeavors throughout the year.

In March and April, Vietravel Airlines aims to conduct 10 charter flights connecting Ho Chi Minh City/Da Nang to Takamatsu/Fukushima provinces. This includes 6 flights to Takamatsu and 4 to Fukushima. The outbound flights are projected to accommodate around 1,862 passengers, while over 1,780 passengers are anticipated on the return flights from Japan. This surge in numbers highlights the growing demand for travel between Vietnam and Japan in 2024.

“With Vietravel Airlines, the implementation of a series of charter flights to Japan not only has commercial significance, but also an opportunity for the airline to evaluate the actual market, find partners/ agents, coordinate with the aviation authorities of the host country, creating an important premise towards the deployment of regular flights connecting Vietnam – Japan. In order to meet the increasing travel and trade needs of the people of the two countries, contributing to enhancing the cooperative relationship and sustainable development in many fields.”, emphasized Mr. Nguyen Minh Hai, President & CEO of Vietravel Airlines.

The flight series aimed at bridging destinations with their respective local cuisines is a hallmark of Vietravel Airlines’ commitment to delivering holistic travel experiences. As Vietnam’s premier touring airline, Vietravel Airlines consistently endeavors to offer passengers seamless connections and rich cultural encounters.

In its latest venture chartering flights to Japan, departing from both Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, Vietravel Airlines introduces passengers to a delightful fusion of culinary delights from both nations. Onboard these flights, passengers are treated to shizuku mochi cake and lotus tea, symbolizing the culinary synergy between Japan and Vietnam. Shizuku mochi cake, a traditional Japanese delicacy resembling a large raindrop, embodies the finesse and simplicity mastered by skilled artisans, while lotus tea, a quintessential Vietnamese brew, exudes a sweet aroma when savored hot.

Notably, on the inaugural flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Takamatsu on March 17th, flight attendants grace the cabin in Yukata uniforms, extending a warm welcome to passengers as they embark on their journey to the Land of the Rising Sun. Additionally, Vietravel Airlines’ onboard “Storytellers” enrich the travel experience by sharing fascinating insights about Takamatsu, enhancing passengers’ understanding of this captivating port city.
