Minor Hotels is preparing to establish its first presence in Morocco after signing an agreement to develop Anantara Retreat Rabat, a luxury property featuring 38 accommodation keys in the nation’s capital. Scheduled to welcome guests in early 2030, the upcoming retreat represents an important step in the hospitality group’s expansion into the Moroccan market.

The project will be developed in collaboration with Bloom Holding, a real estate company headquartered in Abu Dhabi. The developer operates across several sectors, including residential communities, mixed-use developments, hotels, educational facilities and large-scale urban projects in the UAE and overseas.

Located in Rabat’s prestigious diplomatic district, around 20 minutes from the city centre, the new Anantara property will combine Morocco’s distinctive architectural heritage with modern luxury and elegant interiors. Accommodation will include premium guest rooms, spacious suites and seven exclusive villas, each offering three bedrooms.

The retreat’s peaceful surroundings and accessibility to Rabat’s commercial, diplomatic and cultural landmarks are expected to appeal to a diverse range of visitors. These include international diplomats, business executives and high-end leisure travellers seeking privacy, comfort and convenient access to the Moroccan capital.

Guests will also have access to several dining, relaxation and recreational amenities. The planned facilities include a signature dining venue, a traditional Moroccan tea lounge and a swimming pool. Dedicated meeting spaces will accommodate business gatherings, while an Anantara Spa and fitness facilities will provide opportunities for wellness and relaxation.

With its planned opening in early 2030, Anantara Retreat Rabat will introduce Minor Hotels’ Anantara brand to Morocco, adding a new luxury accommodation option to the capital’s hospitality landscape.

“Morocco represents an exciting new market for Minor Hotels, and Rabat provides a particularly compelling setting for our first hotel in the country,” said William E Heinecke, Chairman & Founder of Minor International, the parent company of Minor Hotels. “Anantara Retreat Rabat will bring the brand’s distinctive approach to luxury hospitality to a city where heritage, culture, nature and contemporary life come together. We are delighted to partner with Bloom Holding and look forward to creating a highly intimate retreat that reflects the character of Rabat.”

Carlos Wakim, CEO of Bloom Holding, said: “Our commercial partnership with Minor Hotels reflects Bloom’s commitment to working with leading global operators to deliver exceptional hospitality destinations. Rabat represents an exciting opportunity for Bloom Holding as we continue to expand our international portfolio in a considered and strategic manner. This partnership brings together shared expertise, strong international brands and a common commitment to quality, allowing us to create a unique hospitality offering that respects the character of its setting while delivering long-term value and a truly exceptional guest experience.”

Morocco’s capital, Rabat, is gaining recognition as a vibrant destination where centuries of history meet modern art, literature and cultural experiences. Named UNESCO World Book Capital for 2026, the city is strengthening its reputation as a centre for creativity, education and literary heritage. Its scenic setting along the Atlantic coast and the Bou Regreg River adds to its appeal, offering visitors a blend of historic landmarks, cultural attractions and coastal beauty. Rabat’s growing tourism potential is further supported by Morocco’s expanding visitor economy, which recorded a 7% increase in international tourist arrivals during the first five months of 2026. Improved international air connections are also making the capital more accessible to overseas travellers. Against this backdrop, Minor Hotels is advancing its luxury hospitality expansion across the Middle East and Africa through a new signing in Rabat. The development marks the group’s entry into Morocco and will bring its prestigious Anantara luxury hotel brand to the country for the first time.
