Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa are set to gain stronger travel links to the Charlotte region as Avelo Airlines adds three nonstop routes to Florida from Concord-Padgett Regional Airport in North Carolina.

The move gives Charlotte-area passengers a fresh low-cost path to Gulf Coast beaches, Central Florida theme parks and Tampa Bay holidays without relying on the larger Charlotte Douglas gateway. Avelo confirmed that the flights will operate from Concord-Padgett Regional Airport, which uses the IATA code USA, and will connect the airport with Southwest Florida International Airport, Orlando International Airport and Tampa International Airport.

Florida Routes Push Concord Into A Bigger Travel Role

Avelo’s latest Concord expansion is built around clear leisure demand. Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa all sit in Florida’s major holiday corridor. Each market offers warm-weather appeal, family travel, sports tourism, cruise access and winter sun.

The Fort Myers route will begin on November 19, 2026. It will run twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays. That pattern gives travellers simple long-weekend options and a practical schedule for winter breaks.

The Orlando service will begin one day earlier, on November 18, 2026. It will operate four times per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. This is the densest schedule among the three new routes and reflects Orlando’s year-round pull for families and leisure groups.

The Tampa service will start on November 20, 2026. It will run twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays. That timing supports short city breaks, Gulf Coast holidays and business-linked travel into the Tampa Bay area.

Low Fares Target Charlotte-Area Travellers

Avelo said introductory one-way fares from Concord start at $49. The carrier will use Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft on the new Florida services.

The airline also stated that it is the only carrier offering nonstop service between Concord-Padgett Regional Airport and Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa. This makes the expansion important for passengers north of Charlotte who want direct Florida flights without a longer airport journey.

Concord-Padgett Regional Airport is positioned as a smaller regional alternative for the Queen City region. Avelo’s airport guidance lists the terminal address as 7435 Zephyr Place NW, Concord, and says travellers should use the main terminal for check-in, security screening and boarding.

Smaller airports can reduce trip friction. Shorter walks, easier parking and compact terminals can shape booking choices, especially for families, older travellers and quick leisure escapes.

Avelo Builds A Wider Concord Network

With the Florida additions, Avelo plans to serve 11 nonstop destinations from Concord. The list includes Albany, Cleveland, Indianapolis, New Haven, New York Long Island, Rochester and San Juan in Puerto Rico.

Florida becomes the dominant leisure pillar in the Concord network. Avelo will serve Orlando Lakeland, Orlando International, Fort Myers and Tampa from the airport. That mix gives travellers access to both Central Florida and the Gulf Coast.

The expansion also strengthens Avelo’s broader strategy of using smaller or underserved airports to create direct links to high-demand markets. Since its first flight on April 28, 2021, Avelo says it has carried more than 9.7 million customers on over 76,000 flights. The airline says it now serves 35 destinations across 14 states and two Puerto Rican destinations, Aguadilla and San Juan.

Florida Airports Add Strong Destination Pull

Each airport adds a different travel story.

Southwest Florida International Airport is the main commercial airport for the Fort Myers area. Visit Fort Myers says RSW provides nonstop service to 78 destinations by 16 air carriers and gives travellers access to beaches in less than 30 minutes.

Orlando International Airport gives the Concord route immediate scale. The airport’s own traffic statistics show more than 58.5 million passengers and 40 passenger airlines. That makes the route useful for travellers heading to theme parks, conferences, sports events and Central Florida resorts.

Tampa International Airport adds access to another major Florida gateway. The airport’s official site highlights more than 100 nonstop domestic and international destinations and its location on George J. Bean Parkway in Tampa.

Reliability Message Supports The Route Launch

Avelo is promoting the new routes with an emphasis on value and operational consistency. The carrier’s performance page says its on-time performance uses the US Department of Transportation standard, which measures flights arriving within 15 minutes of schedule. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics describes the same 15-minute threshold in its on-time tables.

For full-year 2025, Avelo ranked second for on-time percentage and third for flight cancellation rate among listed carriers on its performance page. This reliability angle is central to the airline’s pitch as it deepens its Concord operation.

For Charlotte-area travellers, the message is direct. Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa are moving closer. The new Concord flights create more choice, lower lead-in fares and a simpler airport experience for sunny Florida trips in the winter season ahead.
