Japan remains the primary market of Seibu Prince Hotels, even if the firm is expanding beyond that strong foundation into overseas destinations around Asia. Jeremy Gillet, who oversees their development efforts, discussed the company’s expansion from 45 hotels to almost 100 locations worldwide in an interview with Janette from Travel and Tour World. While investigating prospects in markets like Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, the group keeps concentrating on bolstering its Japanese footprint. To further support its international goals, Seibu Prince Hotels is making investments in upscale projects, resort renovations, and strategic alliances. With Japan at the center of its plan, the firm is establishing a bigger hospitality network for the future.

Jeremy Gillet, who leads development activities for Seibu Prince Hotels, explained that the company has significantly expanded its portfolio over the past decade through strategic growth initiatives. During this period, the group completed major acquisition activities, including the purchase of StayWell Holdings in Australia in 2017 and another Prince Hotel acquisition in 2025.

The expansion strategy has helped Seibu Prince Hotels grow its global portfolio from 45 hotels to close to 100 properties, with further growth expected in the coming years.

“Japan Is Our Core Market” Seibu Prince Hotels Shares Luxury Expansion Plans Across Asia

Japan continues to remain the foundation of Seibu Prince Hotels’ investment strategy, with the company operating around 65 hotels across the country. The group sees strong opportunities in major Japanese cities, including Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto, where demand for luxury accommodation continues to rise.

However, the hospitality sector in Japan is facing challenges, including increasing interest rates and higher construction costs. Despite these pressures, Seibu Prince Hotels believes that premium hotel demand remains strong, particularly in major urban destinations and high-value tourism markets.

The company is also focusing on upgrading and repositioning existing resort assets in destinations such as Hokkaido, Karuizawa and Hakone. These properties are being considered for redevelopment into luxury resort experiences designed to attract both domestic and international travellers.

Seibu Prince Hotels is prioritising partnerships with developers, asset owners and long-term investors to expand its international footprint.

Rather than focusing only on acquisitions, the company is looking at new-build projects that can strengthen its brand identity and create long-term value. Building relationships with reliable partners in each market remains a key part of its expansion strategy.

The company is also working closely with Japanese corporations that have experience in residential, retail and property development. Through these partnerships, Seibu Prince Hotels aims to access new opportunities and connect with potential investors in overseas markets.

The group believes collaboration with experienced developers will help it enter new destinations more efficiently while maintaining its standards for luxury hospitality.
