In a recent statement, the Singapore Tourism Board has forecasted that it anticipates the arrival of international visitors to the city-state to reach six million in 2022.

In April, as the country reopening its international borders to all travelers who are vaccinated, it welcomed over 1.5 million foreign visitors in the first half of this year.

While still very much shy of the 9.3 million visitors that come to the Republic of Singapore in the first six months of 2019, it’s 12 times more than what it welcomed for the corresponding period in 2021.

Indians represent the second highest nationality out of the 1.5 million visitors coming to Singapore in the six-month period with more than 219,000 visiting the sovereign island.

From Indonesia, the largest group of visitors with almost 282,000 comes to Singapore. With 139,000, Malaysia is the third country visiting Singapore by air, followed by Australia with 125,000 and the Philippines with 81,000. For the January to June, together the top five account for more than 56 per cent of international visitors this year.

As majority of the population of the world has got vaccinated now along with improving scenario of global travel, Singapore is now welcoming a significant share of visitors worldwide.

This is due to the fact that the island was one of the first in the region to reopen its international borders with no quarantine.
