This winter, Kolkata Airport is set to improve international and domestic connections, as a number of airlines increase and new flights are launched. More frequent Emirates connections, as well as the return of international flights by IndiGo and Akasa Air, will also give passengers more direct international connections. Within India, improved flight connections will be available from Kolkata, as a number of airlines have announced new routes to cities including Chennai, Mumbai, Ranchi and Hyderabad. Providing greater flight options should give passengers more choices and improve access to international flight connections through hubs like Dubai, Istanbul and London.

Kolkata Airport is set for a major connectivity upgrade during the upcoming winter schedule, with airlines adding more flights, restoring international routes and increasing domestic operations. From October 25, passengers travelling from eastern India will have access to a wider network as major carriers expand their services from the city.

The winter timetable will bring stronger links between Kolkata and key domestic destinations, along with improved international connectivity through additional services to overseas markets. Airlines are responding to rising travel demand by increasing frequencies and introducing more options for passengers.

While Kolkata is preparing for wider global connectivity, direct flights to Europe remain unavailable for now. Efforts are continuing to attract European carriers and revive long-distance connections that were previously discontinued.

Emirates Strengthens Kolkata Dubai Route With Higher Flight Frequency

Emirates is set to increase its presence at Kolkata Airport by adding another weekly service to its Dubai route. The airline will raise its operations from 11 flights per week to 12 flights per week during the winter season.

Passengers travelling on the route will continue to receive access to Premium Economy seating options. The airline will also introduce Airbus A350 aircraft on selected morning flights, replacing Boeing 777 operations on those services.

The aircraft upgrade and additional frequency will improve travel options for passengers connecting through Dubai to destinations across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and North America.

IndiGo Expands Kolkata Network With New International Links

IndiGo is preparing a wider winter network from Kolkata with the return of international services and additional domestic flights.

The airline will restart Kolkata connections to Shanghai and Siem Reap after these routes were suspended earlier. A new service between Kolkata and Singapore will also begin operations, adding another international travel option for passengers.

Along with international expansion, IndiGo will increase domestic capacity across several major routes. Additional flights will be introduced to destinations including Port Blair, Varanasi, Delhi, Chennai and Guwahati.

The airline will also strengthen the Kolkata–Surat connection by increasing capacity on the route.

With a large daily flight operation from Kolkata, IndiGo’s winter expansion will provide passengers with more choices for business travel, tourism and onward international connections.

Akasa Air Accelerates Kolkata Growth With More Daily Departures

Akasa Air will significantly expand its Kolkata operations by increasing its daily departures during the winter schedule.

The airline will raise its operations from around 10–11 daily flights to 17 daily flights from October 25, creating a wider network for passengers travelling from the city.

Mumbai connectivity will receive a major increase, with services growing from two daily flights to four daily flights. Additional Mumbai operations will also be introduced on alternate days, while Navi Mumbai services will increase to two daily flights.

The airline will also strengthen routes to Delhi and Bengaluru. A new daily connection to Noida will be added, while Bengaluru flights will increase from one daily service to three.

Other network improvements include making the Kolkata–Port Blair service operate daily instead of on alternate days and increasing Ahmedabad flights from once daily to twice daily.

Further route expansion is also being planned, including a possible Jaipur service and another international destination.

Air India Improves Kolkata Mumbai Connectivity

Air India is expected to restore additional Kolkata–Mumbai services as part of the winter expansion plan.

The return of three daily flights between the two cities will improve travel flexibility for passengers and strengthen connections between eastern India and Mumbai’s wider domestic and international network.

The additional flights will support both corporate and leisure travel demand while creating more options for passengers connecting through Mumbai.

Winter Expansion Supports Kolkata’s Aviation Growth

Kolkata Airport is preparing its domestic and international terminals for increased passenger movement during the winter travel season.

The airport is focusing on improving passenger handling capacity and supporting the additional operations planned by airlines.

The expanded winter schedule highlights Kolkata’s growing importance as an aviation hub, connecting eastern India with major Indian cities and international destinations.

While the resumption of nonstop European flights is still a goal for the future, the new winter flights from the airline provide the community with more flight options and better connections, which is expected to improve even more in the coming years.
