New Zealand travel experiences have been placed in focus as ANZCRO hosted a famil programme designed to strengthen travel advisors’ destination knowledge across Wellington and Auckland. The initiative allowed seven personal travel managers to explore key attractions, premium journeys and curated activities across New Zealand’s North Island.
The ANZCRO famil experience demonstrated how first-hand destination exposure can support advisors when creating personalised itineraries for travellers. Through visits to cultural sites, eco-sanctuaries, rail journeys and island escapes, the programme highlighted the diverse opportunities available within New Zealand travel experiences while connecting advisors with memorable tourism products.
ANZCRO’s latest famil programme showcased the depth of Wellington and Auckland tourism by bringing travel advisors closer to some of New Zealand’s most recognised visitor experiences. The seven participating personal travel managers earned their places through an ANZCRO sales incentive campaign delivered in partnership with TravelManagers.
The programme was designed to provide practical destination knowledge by allowing advisors to experience attractions and travel products first-hand. The ANZCRO famil experience included cultural, nature-based and premium tourism activities, helping participants gain greater familiarity with the experiences they could recommend to their customers.

The itinerary began in Wellington, where the group stayed for two nights while exploring some of the city’s leading attractions. A visit to the Wētā Workshop studios provided insight into New Zealand’s creative industries, while a private tour of Zealandia introduced the advisors to one of the country’s internationally recognised eco-sanctuaries.
These experiences formed an important part of the Wellington and Auckland tourism showcase, demonstrating the variety of activities available for different traveller preferences.
A key element of the ANZCRO famil experience was the journey between Wellington and Auckland aboard the Northern Explorer. The travel advisors travelled in Scenic Plus Premium Class, gaining direct experience of one of New Zealand’s most distinctive rail products.
The journey allowed participants to appreciate the landscapes along the route while understanding the appeal of premium travel experiences in New Zealand. By experiencing the service themselves, advisors were able to better understand the features and value of premium rail travel when designing future customer itineraries.

Great Journeys New Zealand provided the Northern Explorer rail experience, which formed an important part of the programme’s focus on showcasing diverse ways to explore the country.
The inclusion of rail travel highlighted how New Zealand travel experiences extend beyond traditional sightseeing, offering travellers opportunities to discover landscapes and destinations through carefully designed journeys.
The Auckland section of the itinerary introduced the advisors to several experiences that contribute to the city’s tourism appeal. The group visited the All Blacks Experience, where they explored one of New Zealand’s most recognised sporting attractions.
A day trip to Waiheke Island added another dimension to the programme, featuring a wine tour and lunch experience arranged with Ananda Tours. The island visit showcased the combination of scenic surroundings, local experiences and leisure activities available close to Auckland.
The famil concluded with a farewell dinner at Orbit 360, located at the top of the Sky Tower. The dining experience provided panoramic views of Auckland while marking the end of the destination familiarisation journey.
Together, these activities reflected the range of premium travel experiences in New Zealand available to visitors seeking cultural, culinary, nature and luxury-focused itineraries.
Air New Zealand supported the famil by providing flights for the participating advisors. The journey allowed the group to experience premium lounge access and the airline’s new Business Premier product.
The opportunity gave New Zealand travel advisors direct insight into the airline experience and helped them better understand premium travel options available to their customers.
Paula Albers, a Queensland-based travel advisor who participated in the programme, said that experiencing destinations personally was valuable for travel professionals. She explained that the famil had provided her with additional knowledge and confidence when recommending suitable experiences to clients.
She highlighted that the insights gained would help her match travellers with suitable options, including luxury rail journeys, family holidays and food-focused escapes.
ANZCRO stated that it remained committed to supporting Travel Advisors by providing access to travel products across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
