LG Electronics (LG) has partnered with The Marriott International Group to develop the new frontier of hotel guest room technology. LG aims to provide advanced, cloud-computing-based Smart Hotel TVs and develop an integrated content and services guest room system. LG, in partnership with Marriott International, will integrate new hotel guest rooms that will include connected and personalized solutions for hotel guest rooms. These solutions will focus on improving guest room entertainment, smart device management, and enhancing a seamless hotel guest service across all Marriott International hotels.
Under the collaboration, LG and Marriott have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at Marriott’s global headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, to further enhance their jointly developed guest room entertainment and technology platform. Marriott plans to introduce the platform across participating properties within its global hotel portfolio, creating a more advanced approach to in-room entertainment while establishing a stronger foundation for device management and connected guest services.

By combining LG’s expertise in hospitality display solutions with Marriott’s global hospitality capabilities, the partnership aims to enhance hotel operations, streamline maintenance processes and deliver more personalised, convenient and seamless in-room experiences for guests. The initiative reflects both companies’ commitment to accelerating digital transformation across the hospitality industry and shaping the future of smart hotels.
“Through our strategic collaboration with Marriott, LG is expanding the role of the hotel TV beyond entertainment to become a central platform that connects guests with personalized content and services while helping hotel operators manage their properties more efficiently,” said Nicolas Min, head of the Information Display Business at the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company. “By combining our leadership in hospitality displays with cloud, webOS and device management technologies, we will continue to deliver innovative solutions that help shape the future of smart hotels.”
“Our collaboration with LG reflects Marriott’s commitment to building technology that elevates the guest experience across our portfolio,” said Drew Pinto, executive vice president, and chief revenue and technology officer at Marriott International. “By combining LG’s connected-device capabilities with Marriott’s hospitality expertise and enterprise platform, we are creating a more seamless, personalized guest room experience while helping hotel teams operate more efficiently. This work is an important step toward building a smarter technology ecosystem that evolves alongside the needs of our guests.”

Building on a long-standing partnership between LG and Marriott International, LG has been selected to further strengthen Marriott’s hospitality technology ecosystem through the development of an advanced guest room entertainment and technology platform. The solution is designed to support next-generation hotel experiences by combining smart hotel TVs, cloud technology and connected services.
Marriott is leading the platform development around key priorities, including enhancing guest satisfaction, improving property operations and enabling stronger enterprise-level integration. LG is contributing its expertise in smart hotel displays, device management solutions and technical support capabilities to help create a more connected hospitality environment.
A major objective of the collaboration is to transform the television from a traditional entertainment device into a central hub for the connected guest room. The new platform integrates entertainment, hotel information and room services into one seamless and easy-to-use digital experience, allowing travellers to access content and hotel functions more conveniently.
The technology enables streamlined authentication and management of LG smart hotel TVs and set-top boxes across participating Marriott properties. By reducing dependence on conventional on-site video distribution systems, the platform provides greater flexibility while supporting future smart room innovations through connected devices integrated with Marriott’s digital infrastructure.
Beyond improving the in-room experience, the cloud-based platform will provide Marriott with a centralised management system for its guest room technology ecosystem. Hotel teams will gain enhanced visibility into device performance, operational status and system health across individual rooms, properties, specific hotel brands and wider groups within Marriott’s global portfolio.
This centralised approach will allow Marriott teams to identify technical issues faster, manage updates more efficiently and improve operational control across multiple locations. By using cloud-based monitoring and management capabilities, hotels can create a more reliable technology environment while supporting smoother guest experiences.
The platform also enhances Marriott’s in-room entertainment offering by supporting traditional television services, streaming platforms and Free Ad-Supported Television (FAST) channels. Guests will have access to more than 40 over-the-top (OTT) applications and approximately 250 channels, creating a broader range of entertainment choices during their stay.
The system will also support personalised advertising experiences through LG Channels and client-side ad insertion technology, enabling more targeted and flexible content delivery within hotel environments.
The new guest room technology platform is expected to begin with a pilot programme across selected Marriott hotel brands at 40 locations in the United States and Canada. Following the initial rollout, the solution could be expanded across participating Marriott properties in other global markets.
As the partnership develops, LG and Marriott plan to explore further opportunities to extend connected digital experiences beyond guest rooms. Future applications could include public areas and shared hotel spaces, helping create a more unified technology ecosystem throughout hospitality properties.
The collaboration highlights the growing shift towards smarter hotels, where cloud technology, connected devices and personalised digital services are becoming essential tools for improving both guest satisfaction and operational efficiency across the global hospitality industry.
