Fraport Greece Sees 6.4 Percent Growth in 2024, Welcoming 35.2 Million Passengers Across 14 Key Regional Airports

Fraport Greece, which oversees 14 regional airports across the country, has reported impressive passenger traffic growth for the first 11 months of 2024. From January to November, Fraport-managed airports welcomed 35.2 million travelers, marking a 6.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

November alone saw a remarkable 11.6 percent rise in passenger numbers, signaling a strong recovery and continued demand for air travel to Greece.

Fraport Greece manages a number of key airports in popular destinations, including Rhodes, Mykonos, Thessaloniki, Corfu, and Santorini. Of the 14 airports in its portfolio, Rhodes performed the best, while Mykonos saw a slight decline in passenger numbers.

Rhodes Airport experienced a notable 13.7 percent growth, handling 6.013 million international passengers in the first 11 months of 2024, up from 5.289 million in the same period last year.

In contrast, Mykonos Airport saw a 5.1 percent decrease in international traffic, serving 1.069 million passengers in 2024 compared to 1.127 million in 2023.

Other airports across Greece also saw positive growth. Santorini welcomed 1.54 million international passengers, marking a 1.8 percent increase. Chania handled 3 million passengers, up 8.4 percent, and Corfu saw a 6.7 percent rise with 3.9 million travelers. Kos Airport also posted a 3.6 percent increase, serving 2.7 million passengers.

Thessaloniki Airport continued to show strong growth, handling a total of 6.8 million passengers, reflecting a 4.6 percent increase. This includes 2.2 million domestic passengers and 4.6 million international travelers.

The overall trend highlights Greece’s appeal as a major travel destination, with continued increases in both international and domestic passenger traffic.
