Hong Kong Advances SKYTOPIA Yacht Bay Plans Through Monaco Superyacht Industry Showcase

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is showcasing its SKYTOPIA concept at the Monaco Yacht Show to build business relationships and investor confidence. SKYTOPIA is HKIA’s concept to develop tourism and luxury yachting in Hong Kong. The plan includes building the world’s first “Yacht Bay” to provide luxury yachting and hotel services and create a “superyacht marina and lifestyle destination.” SKYTOPIA aims to position Hong Kong as a leading global tourist and luxury yachting destination and create jobs.
The Monaco showcase marked the largest overseas promotion of SKYTOPIA at an international trade event since the launch of the Expression of Interest (EOI) exercise in April for the flagship Yacht Bay project.
During the event, HKIA presented the wide-ranging opportunities emerging from SKYTOPIA, including Yacht Bay and AsiaWorld-Expo Phase 2, to a global audience of investors, marina operators, developers, hospitality executives and aviation industry stakeholders.
A delegation from the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), led by Chairman Fred Lam, conducted a series of high-level meetings and networking sessions with more than 100 senior executives and industry leaders from various sectors. The discussions focused on the future potential of Hong Kong’s yachting, tourism, hospitality and aviation ecosystem.

The vision for SKYTOPIA Yacht Bay and its role in creating new business opportunities for the international yachting and luxury lifestyle sectors was presented during the event. AAHK also took part in the Asia-Pacific Superyacht Night (Monaco) 2026 and the Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous, where the development plans for Yacht Bay and future marina investment opportunities were highlighted.
The delegation also visited Port Hercule, the iconic harbour that hosts the Monaco Yacht Show, to gain insights into the planning, operations and supporting infrastructure behind one of the world’s leading yacht destinations. The visit included reviews of marina facilities, yacht club operations and other supporting services that contribute to Monaco’s position as a global yachting hub.

Alongside the Monaco activities, AAHK jointly organised the Hong Kong Reception in collaboration with the Economic and Trade Office in Brussels, Invest Hong Kong, AsiaWorld-Expo, the Hong Kong Tourism Board and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
The reception showcased Hong Kong’s expanding luxury tourism, yachting and lifestyle offerings to an international audience. The event featured SKYTOPIA Yacht Bay, “The Festival of Connoisseurs”, and other signature experiences designed to strengthen Hong Kong’s appeal as a destination for premium travellers, investors and global businesses.

Mr Lam said, “SKYTOPIA, featuring Hong Kong’s largest yacht bay development, offers an exceptional scale and prime location for water-themed projects rarely found in established international markets. The Yacht Bay will further strengthen Hong Kong’s appeal as an international tourism and lifestyle destination while creating new opportunities for the global marina, hospitality and investment communities. We are actively engaging industry leaders around the world to bring innovative ideas and best-in-class expertise to this landmark development. Together, we aim to establish a world-class waterfront destination that seamlessly integrates aviation, tourism, entertainment and leisure, while opening a new chapter for yacht tourism in Asia.”
Since April 2026, Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) has been seeking global interest in the marina project by inviting proposals from international investors and experienced industry players specialising in marina development and management, yacht services, hospitality, tourism and large-scale integrated developments. A formal tender process is expected to begin next year, with the first phase of the marina project targeted for completion in 2028/29.
