Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), the biggest hospitality group in India, has announced that Gateway Hotel and Convention Centre has been signed at Kanamangala, Devanahalli, near Bengaluru International Airport. It is yet another greenfield investment from the IHCL group into India’s thriving hospitality industry. Also, the city is now increasingly becoming an important destination for corporate tourism, MICE and luxury tourism.

The fact that Bengaluru happens to be one of the fastest growing cities in India ensures that there is tremendous development of infrastructure in the city due to it being a hub of technology and businesses. Gateway Hotel and Convention Centre fits perfectly in the picture as the demand for hotels increases in the city with the growth in hospitality sector.

Meeting the Rising Demand in Bengaluru’s Expanding Business Corridor

According to Ms. Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development at IHCL, Bengaluru is well-positioned as a key player in the hospitality sector due to its robust business ecosystem and sustained infrastructure growth. “With the rapid expansion around the airport, North Bengaluru has emerged as a significant growth corridor, and this signing aligns with our strategy to build scale in the micro-market addressing the rising demand from corporate and MICE segments,” she explained.

This new property will offer 300 hotel keys, along with a wide range of amenities such as an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a bar, and a lounge for guests. The hotel will also provide modern leisure facilities, including a gym and swimming pool. As a convention centre, it will boast versatile banquet spaces and meeting rooms, with the largest banquet hall spanning over 16,000 square feet, making it ideal for large-scale conferences, conventions, and social events.

Hospitality Sector Growth in Bengaluru and the MICE Market

Bengaluru, often referred to as the Silicon Valley of India, is recognized as a major global hub for IT, biotechnology, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing. These sectors attract a significant number of corporate travelers, making the city one of the most attractive destinations for business tourism in India. The demand for MICE tourism has seen an upward trend, with businesses seeking state-of-the-art venues for conferences, events, and meetings.

With the addition of the Gateway Hotel and Convention Centre, IHCL is responding directly to the growing demand in this sector. The hotel will cater to both the needs of corporate travelers and MICE tourism, providing high-quality services, modern meeting spaces, and ample event capacity. The project exemplifies how Bengaluru’s hospitality sector is evolving to meet the demands of the modern traveler, particularly those attending business conferences, exhibitions, and large-scale corporate events.

Strategic Partnership with Hombale Group

This project also highlights a key partnership between IHCL and the Hombale Group. Ms. Shailaja Vijay Kiragandur, from Hombale Group, expressed her excitement about the collaboration: “We are happy to partner with IHCL to bring the Gateway brand to North Bengaluru, aligning with the region’s growth trajectory.” This partnership brings together two industry leaders, further strengthening the hospitality offerings in the region and supporting the development of North Bengaluru as a prominent business and tourism hub.

Hospitality Sector Growth: Meeting the Needs of Modern Travelers

The Gateway Hotel and Convention Centre is just one example of how the hospitality sector in Bengaluru is adapting to the increasing demand for quality accommodation, conference facilities, and business-oriented services. As one of India’s fastest-growing cities, Bengaluru’s economy is diversifying, and so is its hospitality market. With global business tourism on the rise, there is a clear need for high-end, well-equipped venues that cater to both corporate needs and the growing leisure tourism sector.

This development, which adds to IHCL’s portfolio of 20 hotels in Bengaluru, including 11 under development, demonstrates IHCL’s commitment to contributing to the city’s hospitality sector growth. As the demand for high-quality business hotels continues to increase, this new hotel will be a welcome addition to the city’s array of luxury and MICE hotels, meeting the needs of both local and international travelers.

Bengaluru’s Thriving Hospitality Market: The Future of Business and Leisure Tourism

The growth of Bengaluru’s hospitality sector is not just about accommodating the growing number of business travelers but also about supporting the city’s dynamic tourism landscape. With the addition of new hotels and convention centres, Bengaluru is positioning itself as a leading destination for business tourism in South Asia. This growth will contribute to the city’s global competitiveness in the hospitality industry, positioning it as a top choice for international conferences, exhibitions, and corporate meetings.

As Bengaluru continues to grow in importance as a global hub for business and technology, the hospitality sector will remain a key pillar of its economic development. The Gateway Hotel and Convention Centre is an example of how the city is meeting the needs of the modern traveler while supporting sustainable tourism growth and fostering an environment where both corporate travelers and leisure tourists can thrive.

Strengthening Bengaluru’s Position in the Global Hospitality Market

The newly established Gateway Hotel and Convention Centre will be a valuable addition to the growing hospitality industry in Bengaluru, with a focus on the ever-growing business and MICE segment demands. The development will boost the city’s reputation as a major business center and attract more business travelers and luxury vacationers to Bengaluru. With continuous growth in Bengaluru, investments by IHCL in quality business-oriented hotels will ensure the continued development of the hospitality industry in Bengaluru.
