India and France Fuel Growth of Aviation Tourism and Education with New Dassault Aviation Centre Near Delhi-NCR’s Noida Airport : Here’s What You Need to Know!

In a significant move set to reshape India’s aviation landscape, French aerospace giant Dassault Aviation has announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility near the upcoming Noida International Airport (DXN) in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. The proposal was officially acknowledged by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on April 16, 2025, marking a critical step toward transforming the region into a major aviation and aerospace hub.
The new facility will cater to both civil and military aircraft, strengthening India’s capability to maintain its growing fleet domestically while also attracting international aviation business. Dassault Aviation, the manufacturer of Rafale fighter jets and Falcon business aircraft, is expected to bring decades of global aerospace experience to this regional initiative.
Beyond the MRO operations, Dassault’s ambitious plan includes the creation of a Centre of Excellence and a dedicated aviation university to address the skills gap in India’s aerospace sector. The company aims to work closely with the Ministry of Skill Development and the Ministry of Defence to develop aeronautics-based academic programs at various levels, including high school, undergraduate, and diploma certifications.
According to YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh, the proposed Centre will not only provide technical training but also offer long-term career pathways for aviation professionals. The Centre will be set up on a portion of the 1,365-hectare area designated for the second phase of the Noida International Airport project. This land parcel has been specifically earmarked for developing an aviation-focused ecosystem, including training, technology, and maintenance infrastructure.

YEIDA officials cited industry projections that place the value of India’s MRO sector at $7 billion by 2030, up from $1.7 billion in 2021. This rapid growth has attracted global aerospace players eager to capitalize on India’s rising air traffic and expanding aircraft fleet.
Uttar Pradesh, in particular, has become an attractive investment destination in this sector. The state government has rolled out targeted policies offering subsidies, fast-track approvals, and supportive infrastructure to lure aviation and aerospace companies.

Dassault’s entry into this space aligns with India’s broader national vision to become a self-reliant aviation powerhouse, reducing its dependence on foreign MRO providers and enhancing national defence readiness. It also supports the “Make in India” initiative by encouraging local job creation and skill development.
The potential impact of this project on the regional economy cannot be overstated. Once operational, the Dassault facility is expected to generate thousands of high-skilled jobs, both directly within the MRO unit and indirectly across allied industries such as component manufacturing, aviation logistics, and hospitality.

Moreover, the aviation university and Centre of Excellence will position Uttar Pradesh as a destination for aviation education and upskilling, drawing students and professionals from across the country. Officials believe this ecosystem will transform Jewar—historically an agricultural belt—into a future-forward aviation and technology corridor.
YEIDA has already requested Dassault to submit detailed land requirements, and preliminary dialogues are underway to ensure smooth allocation within the DXN expansion area.
Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport (DXN), is quickly becoming the cornerstone of India’s northern aviation strategy. Set to be one of the largest greenfield airports in Asia upon completion, it has already attracted investments from major players like Zurich Airport International AG, and now Dassault Aviation joins the growing list of global aviation stakeholders.
The airport’s strategic location, just outside Delhi NCR and along the Yamuna Expressway, makes it a natural choice for MRO operations, cargo hubs, and aviation education centers.

Dassault Aviation’s decision to build an MRO facility and aviation skill centre near Noida International Airport marks a pivotal moment for India’s aerospace ambitions. This initiative underscores three key industry trends:
India’s emergence as an aviation and aerospace hub in Asia
Uttar Pradesh’s proactive efforts to attract foreign aerospace investment
A dual-focus on civil and military aviation advancement alongside human capital development
By combining global expertise with local potential, this project may well serve as a blueprint for future aviation zones across India. The success of the facility could also encourage other aerospace giants to invest in the Noida-Jewar region, strengthening India’s position in the global aviation supply chain.
