Oman Air has announced the appointment of Nasser Al Sharji as its new Chief Executive Officer, with the leadership transition set to take effect from 1 September 2026. The appointment marks another important step in the airline’s ongoing transformation journey as Oman’s national carrier continues its efforts to enhance operational performance, strengthen financial sustainability and build a more competitive future.

Bringing more than 25 years of leadership experience, Nasser Al Sharji has developed extensive expertise in business transformation, operational management and strategic growth across several major industries, including aviation, logistics, oil and gas, and government-related services.

Throughout his career, Nasser has held several senior executive positions where he played a key role in managing large-scale projects, improving organisational performance and driving transformation programmes. His previous leadership roles include positions at ASYAD Group, OQ and Nama Water Services, where he contributed to major national initiatives and helped advance operational excellence.

Before joining Oman Air as CEO, Nasser served as Chief Executive Officer of Transom Handling and also took on the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer at Oman Airports Management Company. His experience within the aviation ecosystem has given him valuable insight into airport operations, airline services and the wider challenges facing the global aviation industry.

Nasser holds an Executive MBA and has also contributed to various organisations through board memberships and committee leadership roles across multiple sectors. His combination of strategic vision, industry knowledge and transformation expertise is expected to support Oman Air’s next phase of development.

The appointment was welcomed by His Excellency Saeed Al Mawali, Chairman of Oman Air and Oman’s Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, who highlighted Nasser’s strong leadership background and deep understanding of the aviation sector.

The chairman expressed confidence that Nasser’s experience in managing complex organisations and leading change initiatives would help Oman Air continue building on the progress achieved in recent years. Under his leadership, the airline aims to further strengthen its position as Oman’s flag carrier while advancing its long-term transformation strategy.

The leadership change also recognises the contribution of Con Korfiatis, who has served as Oman Air’s Chief Executive Officer since May 2024. During his tenure, the airline underwent a significant period of restructuring and transformation aimed at improving financial performance, operational efficiency and organisational effectiveness.

Oman Air acknowledged Con Korfiatis’ role in guiding the airline through one of the most important phases in its history. His leadership supported the carrier’s efforts to create a stronger foundation, improve business performance and respond effectively to an increasingly competitive global aviation environment.

Although stepping away from the CEO position, Con Korfiatis will continue supporting Oman Air as Advisor to the CEO. His ongoing involvement will provide continuity, strategic guidance and support as the airline moves forward with its transformation objectives.
