In June, the government emphasized its ambition to position tourism as a vital sector driving the nation’s economic development.

Before the pandemic, tourism contributed roughly 12% to Vietnam’s GDP, with international tourism alone accounting for 8%, according to a June report citing VinaCapital Group Ltd.

The government’s goal of attracting 70 million international visitors by 2045 could position Vietnam as the world’s second-largest tourism destination, based on data shared by a Bloomberg Intelligence analyst.
