Tropic Air Charters has strengthened its regional aviation capabilities with the acquisition of two new Tecnam P2012 Traveller aircraft, representing a major step in the company’s fleet modernisation strategy and its ongoing efforts to enhance premium private charter services connecting South Florida and the Bahamas.

The first aircraft is scheduled to enter service in the coming months, ahead of the busy Caribbean travel period, while the second Tecnam P2012 Traveller will be added to the fleet at a later stage. The investment marks a transition away from Tropic Air Charters’ long-standing Britten-Norman aircraft and introduces a new generation of regional aircraft designed to meet the unique requirements of island and short-distance operations.

The addition of the Tecnam aircraft supports Tropic Air Charters’ goal of delivering a more comfortable, efficient and reliable travel experience for private aviation customers across the region. The company’s operations extend beyond luxury charter services through Tropic Air Rescue, recognised as the first FAA-certified helicopter air ambulance service dedicated to providing emergency medical transport between the Bahamas and Florida.

Together, Tropic Air Charters and Tropic Air Rescue provide a wide range of aviation solutions, combining private passenger flights with specialised medical evacuation services. The expanded fleet reflects the company’s focus on strengthening regional connectivity while maintaining high standards of safety, reliability and operational performance.

Designed specifically for regional and island aviation, the Tecnam P2012 Traveller offers a combination of passenger comfort, modern technology and strong operational flexibility. The twin-engine aircraft features a spacious, climate-controlled cabin equipped with premium seating, USB charging facilities and large windows that enhance the overall passenger experience.

The aircraft’s advanced avionics systems and twin-engine configuration provide additional reliability for over-water routes, where operational dependability is essential. Its short takeoff and landing capabilities also make it well suited for accessing smaller airports and airstrips across the Bahamas, where shorter runways are common.

With the arrival of the new Tecnam P2012 Traveller aircraft, Tropic Air Charters is positioning itself for the next phase of regional aviation growth, offering travellers improved comfort, efficiency and connectivity across the South Florida and Caribbean markets.

“Our mission has always been to provide exceptional, seamless travel experiences for our clients heading to the Bahamas,” said Anthony Marinello, president of Tropic Air Charters. “The Tecnam P2012 Traveller allows us to elevate every aspect of that experience. From enhanced passenger comfort and modern amenities to advanced safety features and improved operational capabilities, these aircraft represent the future of regional travel and reflect our ongoing commitment to providing best-in-class service.”

The acquisition marks a major step forward for the Fort Lauderdale-based aviation company, strengthening its position as a trusted provider of private charter services between South Florida and the Bahamas. With the addition of the Tecnam P2012 Traveller to its fleet, Tropic Air Charters is upgrading its operations to deliver more efficient and comfortable travel solutions for a growing range of customers, including holidaymakers, corporate travellers, property owners and yacht enthusiasts looking for seamless island connectivity.

“We are delighted to welcome Tropic Air Charters to the Tecnam family,” adds Francesco Sferra, Tecnam P2012 special mission platforms sales and business development manager. “The P2012 was designed precisely for this kind of demanding, high-frequency, island-hopping environment. Seeing operators like Tropic Air choose the P2012 to replace older legacy fleets is a testament to the aircraft’s superior economics, performance and passenger appeal. We are excited to see these beautiful aircraft flying the skies between Fort Lauderdale and the Bahamas.”

The Tecnam P2012 Traveller has been developed specifically for regional airline and charter operations, offering operators a highly adaptable aircraft designed to meet diverse connectivity needs. Its practical design, efficient performance and operational flexibility make it suitable for markets where reliable short-distance air services are essential.

The aircraft combines a dependable twin-engine configuration with modern aviation technology and advanced flight systems, helping operators achieve safe and efficient operations across challenging regional networks. Its capabilities allow airlines to serve destinations that require greater flexibility in aircraft size, frequency and route planning.

Designed with passenger comfort in mind, the Tecnam P2012 Traveller provides a modern cabin environment that enhances the overall travel experience. The aircraft’s balance of performance and comfort makes it a strong option for regional carriers seeking to improve service quality while maintaining operational efficiency.

The aircraft’s ability to operate from shorter runways further strengthens its suitability for island destinations and remote communities. This capability is particularly valuable in the Caribbean, where geography and infrastructure can create unique challenges for regional air connectivity.

The first Tecnam P2012 Traveller is expected to enter service before the 2026–27 Caribbean travel season, supporting improved regional mobility and creating new opportunities for passenger connections across the islands. The introduction of the aircraft is set to strengthen charter and regional aviation services throughout the Caribbean market.
