RAAYA by Atmosphere, a luxury resort under Ventive Hospitality’s Maldives collection, has been honoured with the International Sustainability Award 2026 in recognition of its commitment to environmentally responsible operations, sustainable resource management, and protecting the fragile island ecosystem.

Situated in the Raa Atoll of the Maldives, RAAYA was designed around sustainability principles, integrating eco-conscious solutions across energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, and responsible marine experiences. The resort’s sustainability framework focuses on reducing environmental impact while preserving the natural beauty of its island surroundings.

Among its major initiatives is a 693 kW solar power system, which significantly reduces reliance on diesel fuel. The installation helps prevent the consumption of around 187 litres of diesel and avoids nearly 494 kg of carbon emissions every hour, supporting cleaner energy use across resort operations.

RAAYA has also introduced an on-site water bottling facility to minimise dependence on single-use plastic bottles. The resort further strengthens water conservation through the reuse of treated wastewater for landscape irrigation, helping reduce freshwater consumption.

Its waste management programme includes systematic waste segregation, composting of organic materials, and responsible management of brine generated through the seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) process. These measures support a circular approach to resource use and reduce pressure on the island environment.

The resort’s sustainability efforts extend to food production through Seb’s Farm, an on-property agricultural initiative that cultivates more than 50 varieties of vegetables and herbs. The farm supports localised food sourcing while reducing the environmental footprint associated with transporting fresh produce.

RAAYA also promotes responsible marine tourism through the implementation of Green Fins protocols, ensuring that diving and snorkelling activities follow practices designed to protect coral ecosystems and marine biodiversity.

The resort has achieved Green Globe certification and is recognised as a Green Fins Digital Member, reflecting its alignment with internationally recognised sustainability standards in hospitality operations and marine conservation.

The International Sustainability Award 2026 recognition further highlights Ventive Hospitality’s broader environmental commitment across its Maldives portfolio. The group continues to support conservation programmes focused on coral restoration, biodiversity tracking, and sea turtle protection through collaborations with organisations such as the Olive Ridley Project, Marine Savers, and the Maldives Environmental Protection Agency.
