The Pavilion was conceived by Immersive International, a visionary experiential design studio known for its pioneering work in creating interactive environments. The team combined innovative technologies such as projection mapping, responsive lighting, layered sound, and interactive elements to craft an experience that is constantly changing, evoking an emotional connection and making the UK’s network of ideas come alive.
At the heart of the Pavilion is the experience “Come Build the Future.” This 20-minute journey immerses visitors in a collaborative exploration, where they play an active role in shaping the future alongside the UK. The experience emphasizes partnership and co-creation, blending both the physical and digital worlds to deliver a message of unity and forward-thinking innovation.

John Munro, CEO of Immersive International and Principal Designer, said: “This Pavilion is really a snapshot of how we approach experiential masterplanning. We have built an experience that speaks to people on an emotional level – one that lingers long after they leave. Our approach at Immersive has always been about storytelling first. Technology is the amplifier. It’s what turns ideas into encounters, and space into memory. The Pavilion is a place where visitors don’t just learn about British innovation – they feel it. They see themselves in it. We always try to make places that feel alive – places that people want to come back to because they feel part of something bigger, and a space they can connect in.”
Central to the Pavilion experience is the enchanting story of Kenji, a Japanese father, and his daughter Mei, who unexpectedly encounter PIX, a playful, shape-shifting character. PIX leads them through a series of imaginative scenes, each highlighting the UK’s creativity and innovative spirit. Their journey embodies the Pavilion’s core message: through collaboration and creativity, even the smallest ideas can spark world-changing transformations.

PIX, inspired by the Pavilion’s pixelated design, functions as both a character and a symbol of innovation. His ability to change shape and take on forms of iconic British objects enables him to connect with guests across different languages and generations, making him the emotional anchor of the entire experience. Designed to engage children and families, PIX encourages visitors to play an active role in the UK’s creative journey, inviting them to co-author the unfolding narrative of collaboration and innovation.
Tommy Lexen, Managing Director at Immersive International and Project Director, said: “PIX symbolises the UK’s spirit of imagination and transformation. He’s a playful building block – both literal and figurative – showing how individuals, like pixels, can come together to create something far greater. He speaks to our belief that powerful ideas often start small, and that creative energy is a shared force. Whether you’re five or eighty-five, PIX reminds you that you too can shape the future.”

In March 2023, Immersive International was entrusted with the creative direction and original concept for the UK Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. Following the finalization of the concept, the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) appointed ES Global as the Pavilion’s design and construction partner. To bring Immersive’s vision to life, ES Global collaborated with WOO Architects, who were tasked with translating the creative concept into a physical structure.
The partnership between ES Global and WOO Architects led to the creation of a bold, modular design that masterfully integrates aesthetics and practicality. The Pavilion’s innovative structure is designed to be fully demountable and repurposable, setting a new standard in sustainable exhibition design. This collaboration transformed the initial concept into a tangible and inspiring space, offering the perfect setting for Immersive’s dynamic exhibition and storytelling experience.
Throughout the project, the UK Government played an active role, working closely with the creative, technical, and construction teams. This unique collaboration allowed each partner to contribute their expertise, resulting in a Pavilion that not only embodies the UK’s spirit of innovation and creativity but also showcases a commitment to sustainability in design.
Ceri Owen-Bradley, Director & SRO for the UK at Expo Osaka 2025, Department for Business and Trade, said: “From day one, this Pavilion has been a truly collaborative effort. We’ve worked hand-in-hand with Immersive International, ES Global and Woo Architects, bringing together creative and technical expertise from across the UK. This close teamwork and shared creativity have been essential to achieving the Pavilion’s ambitious goals.”
